My Story
I started playing music when I was nine years old. Beginning with the violin, I fell in love with stringed instruments. At twelve, I picked up my brother's guitar one day. It seemed easier to play than the violin because it had frets. Playing along with the radio and Top40 music, I taught myself how to play guitar. From 1986 to 1989, I practiced about 6 or 7 hours a day. Listening to great guitar players like Joe Satriani, Steve Morse, Eric Johnson, Eddie Van Halen, Pat Metheny, Mike Stern, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck, Vito Bratta, Alex Lifeson, I slowly started developing my own style.
At Andover High School, I made several bands with my friends and we played at the Battle of the Bands every year from 1989 to 1992.
During my university years, I went to University of Massachusetts Amherst.
During that time I had an original band, Jamawokee, and played in many tribute bands. I played guitar 4 or 5 nights a week from 1993 to 2000, basically most of the clubs between Boston and New York City.
In 2003, I moved to Los Angeles from Boston and jumped right into the pro
music scene there. After playing in churches and for various pop stars for several years, I became the guitarist for Aretha Franklin's band in 2007.
